… with my 1992 vintage Audi
365,055 kilometers and eighteen years together!
The ‘wine-mobile’ is part and parcel of my in-situ research for my articles and books. In essence, this personally enriching journey has allowed ‘us’ to first live Wine Greece, before we share it with you through word and image. This poor vehicle has been a reliable and indispensable companion to me throughout my years of exploration in the Greek vineyard. Battling through a variety of terrain, it has seen me through hundreds of thousands of kilometres. It has taken us to hard-to-reach locales, down obscure dead ends and up mountain tops in Crete and Cephalonia. It has ultimately enabled my photographer and I to capture one-of-a-kind shots of the Greek people(s) and their diverse landscape. All those grapes, all those islands. This may sound like a plea for a new car from Audi’s public relations department. Not really. Having just rebuilt the engine, let’s see how it goes…
